Lizzie Baumgartner (BOMB-gart-ner) is a broadcast radio and podcast professional in the far-off lands of the Chicago suburbs. With over six years of experience in radio, plus a constant finger to the pulse of the entertainment-news industry, Baumgartner embodies a work-ethic and mindset that sets her apart from the traditional broadcast bustle.

She currently is the managing editor of podcasts at WBBM Newsradio. Here, she leads a team of two producers to create new, engaging audio content for the Chicagoland area to consume. Working with the national team as well, to disseminate our episodes to a larger network of audiences through promotional tactics, interviews, accessible topics and reporting and innovative techniques.

Along with this, Baumgartner manages WRSE and teaches its students at Elmhurst University about radio along with journalism. Previously, she taught media studies at her alma mater North Central College.

And finally, is the host and producer of her podcast The Emo Social Club where she also live streams, interviews guests and produces live events.

Within traditional broadcasting; starting off managing and running her college radio station, WONC FM89.1 to throwing events with 93XRT in promotions through gathering and producing up-to-date news during the initial COVID lockdowns and BLM protests in downtown Chicago as an assistant producer at WBBMNewsRadio780, and working at the national level for alt-rock plus country stations for Audacy, Inc. to produce, quality check, troubleshoot national shows including Rob & Holly (nationally syndicated show), Megan Holiday (KROQ, various other markets; syndicated), Alternalido (KROQ, various other markets; syndicated) and more. Baumgartner showcases her adaptability through change, high-stress situations, plus creative challenges to deliver a polished product for audiences.

Outside of work, she enjoys listening to her favorite bands like Fall Out Boy, the Jonas Brothers and My Chemical Romance on vinyl while drinking the latest Ethiopian pour-over coffee from her favorite local roaster. Recently, she was nominated for best faculty advisor nationally from the Intercollegiate Broadcast Systems for her guidance at WRSE. Baumgartner received her master’s degree in journalism from DePaul University in early 2021.
